Devotional THOUGHTS 

“Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding” (Prov 4:7).

Evil spiritual forces will motivate us if they have an opportunity, and anger and jealousy can stir people up to act in ways that they later regret.

But here in the verse from Isaiah we see another meaning—a deeper meaning. “Drop down, ye heavens, from above”. Christ Jesus came from above, “You are from below; I am from above” (John 8:23).

"I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. if not, i will know” (Gen 18:20–21).

We pray “Our Father”. It’s a communal prayer, something that we say together.

We are not to be shaken when great events take place, we have been told beforehand. “When I saw the Lamb open the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake... The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up"

We see all sorts of heavy weather, trouble and turmoil but let’s remember that Jesus said, “See, I have told you ahead of time” (Matt 24:25).

Contentment in Christ grows out of trust in God’s character. A settled confidence that he's enough and is near. Contentment belongs in the same family as peace and patience.

The relationship we have with the Lord is that he knows us, and we know him. "Whoever loves God is known by God” (1 Cor 8:3).

The devil has gone down to you - he knows that his time is short” (Rev 12:12): if the devil can see the signs of the times, those who know their God should know the signs too.

We are God’s people, we belong to him, we serve him and do his will and his work. “The people I formed for Myself will declare My praise” (Isa 43:21).

Jesus is not ashamed to call us his family: “’Who are my mother and my brothers?’ he asked. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother’” (Mk 3:33–34).
