“Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law” (Ps 94:12).
The Lord will sometimes discipline us, but we remember that his correction is always for our good; to take us on to his higher calling. So, we “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:14). For there is some pressing on to do.
Not everyone applies themselves to their classes, some school and college teachers know the students who are eager to learn, and those who aren’t.
When the Lord sees that we have taken a detour, or even before we have taken it, he will speak to us alerting us to the wiles of the enemy that attempt to waylay us in our walk with the Lord.
God’s ways are always the best for us, so we can have no better teacher than the Lord. He brings salvation, love, joy and peace to us: “All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace” (Isa 54:13). Therefore, we pay attention to all that the God of heaven and earth has to teach us about heaven and earth. For he will instruct us on spiritual ways and material ways.
How ought we to behave while we are on this earth? The Lord will tell us when we come before him in humility asking for direction.
“The LORD confides in those who fear him” (Ps 25:14). Well, this is the finest information we could get. To hear from the Lord is a privilege and a great blessing. Inside information from on high. May we all be blessed to receive it.

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives” (Ps 37:23).
So we ask the Lord to teach us and direct our steps. Some lessons are hard for us to grasp, and we may not feel blessed while we are smarting from being chastened of the Lord. Yet we are blessed, far more than those who do not know the ways of the Lord. For the Lord not only teaches us but also trains us. The Lord has his plans for each one of us and training is a part of the process of moving on into the deeper areas that God has for us. He takes us through his divine course and brings us out into maturity.
The Lord has preparations in place which are higher and better than we can imagine.
“I am going there to prepare a place for you?” (John 14:2). We all have a “place” in God’s kingdom, and so we are taught of the Lord as a part of our own preparation.
We apply ourselves to the Divine Teacher’s instruction, the Holy Spirit’s lessons and the study of God’s Word. We listen eagerly, and daily pursue God’s righteous ways, that we may know them and walk in them.
“Pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Tim 2:22).
