“They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion” (Psalm 84:7).
WALK IN VICTORY
Faith in Christ gives us a positive attitude, that all is well, as the song says, “It is well with my soul”.
“If God is for us who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31).
As we walk through life we praise the Lord that he is with us. Having God “with us” is extremely important for we see the Lord’s hand in every area of our life. As another hymn says, “I’m rejoicing night and day, as I walk the narrow way for the hand of God in all my life I see”.
David knew the blessing of having God with him: “David became greater and greater, for the LORD, the God of hosts, was with him” (2 Sam 5:10).
He walked in victory as a result.
Moses also walked in victory seeing God’s good hand upon him. “Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated” (Deut 34:7).
The enemy of our souls desires us to walk in doubt and misery, because that suits his evil strategy. But God is good and those who know God walk in the strength that God’s goodness gives.
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage” (Ps 84:5).
Not that we won’t have hardships of many types, but whatever faces us on our journey, we walk in victory not despondency. And we know that the Lord helps us over every hurdle.
Even in the wilderness, God supplies what we need for our journey. Refreshment and revitalisation comes even in the dry deserts.
“As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools” (Ps 84:6).
“So far from being wearied they gather strength as they proceed. Each individual becomes happier, each company becomes more numerous, each holy song more sweet and full. We grow as we advance if heaven be our goal” (CH Spurgeon).
So let’s take heart, the Lord is with us and we walk with him in victory.
